I was asked by Dr. Frank Straub to evaluate the police response of the 2019 New Zealand Mosque mass shooting along with several other SMEs including Dr. Brett Meade. Both Dr. Straub and Dr. Meade are authors on many of the AARs from the National Policing Institute.

I stress the importance of understanding there are always unseen responder challenges. 2 months after this article, I was interviewed by US DOJ for the Uvalde report mentioned in this article.

I commented on this incident for the LA Times. While I was misquoted about Pulse, you get my point. The decision on whether or not to intervene when an active shooter barricades, takes “hostages” (captives but another topic) or stops shooting continues to plague us.
